We honour the talented young poets who have won prizes or Honourable Mentions in our yearly Bar Sagi Young Poets Prize with an awards event at which they read their winning poems and receive warm congratulations from our President and from the Bar Sagi Prize administrator, and sometimes tips and comments from one or more of our judges.
Prof. Joseph of the Weizmann Institute, Bar’s grandfather and the sponsor of the prize, also gives a short talk about Bar and usually plays one of several lovely videos of her poems set to music and sung. These are viewable via Prof. Joseph’s YouTube channel.
The awards events are usually held in April or May, via Zoom, right before the awards event for our adult poetry competition, the Reuben Rose Competition. We welcome all family members, friends and teachers of the winners to join us in celebrating their success. Since the two awards events are held together, many Voices Israel members also attend the Bar Sagi Prize event and applaud our young poets.
