May 2018 Netanya Residential Workshop

“Inspiration by the Sea”

On Sunday, May 6th 2018, Voices Israel members convened at the King Solomon Hotel by the seashore in Netanya, for our biennial two-day workshop.

As usual, there were three presentations, all consisting as a short talk as a prelude to, or inspiration for, a poetry exercise:

  • Marc Radzyner: “An exploration of the short poems of the American poet A. R. Ammons”

  • Nicholas Dunne-Lynch: “But Song Only Dropped – two Jewish poets of World War I.”

  • Shlomo Sher: “Reconciling the ‘public’ and the ‘private’ in our poetry.

The participants were invited to submit poems written during the workshop, or edited versions of them, for publication in the workshop chapbook, and 18 poets did so. It was beautifully composed by Johnmichael Simon and published via his Cyclamen & Swords imprint.

An online version of the chapbook is available for download here (PDF file).
