Bar Sagi Prize Rules and Guidelines

  • The competition is open to Israelis aged 12 to 18.
  • The submission period forthis year’s Bar Sagi Young Poets Prize is from 1st November 2025 to 15th February 2026.
  • Prizes: 400 NIS first prize, 250 NIS second prize, 100 NIS third prize. Other poems may be awarded an Honorable Mention.
  • There is no submission fee.
  • Poems must be in English, and no longer than 40 lines (including stanza breaks). They may be in any style and on any subject.
  • Poems must be previously unpublished.
  • To submit, send an email to barsagivoices@gmail.com and include the following:
    • 1-3 poems, each poem in a separate file attached to the email.
    • A completed entry form downloaded and filled in (this is a Word file, it can be filled in without printing). The entry form can be downloaded via this link.
  • Prizes will be presented by Bar Sagi’s family, and the winning poets and recipients of Honorable Mentions will read their poems, at a prize-giving ceremony held by Voices Israel.
  • The winning poems, and Honorable Mention poems will be published together with those of the Reuben Rose competition. We retain a non-exclusive right to publish and republish the winning poems and Honorable Mention winners in all media, while the poet retains copyright and can also publish elsewhere after the winners are announced.
